Simple, Inexpensive and Tasty recipe coming from "The big book of bread" by Anne Sheasby

Raising Time 2 hours hrs
Total Time 3 hours hrs 25 minutes mins
- 700 g wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 25 g butter, melted
- 7 g instant yeast 1 sachet
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 150 ml lukewarm milk
- 300 ml lukewarm water
Combine flour with dry yeast, salt and sugar. Add the rest of the ingredients and knead, adding the melted butter at the end. Knead the dough long enough to make it soft and elastic. Shape it into a ball, put it in a floured bowl, in a warm place, covered with a kitchen towel to double its volume (it will take about 1.5 hours).
After rising, punch the dough with your fist, knead it again, form an oval loaf, place it on a baking tray sprinkled with flour. Cover again, leave for 30 minutes (or longer) in a warm place until it doubles its volume. Then using a sharp knife, nick the bread several times and sprinkle with flour.
Preheat the oven to 445°F and bake the loaf for 10 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 395°F and bake for another 40-45 minutes. The finished bread should be well risen, brown and sound hollow when hit from the bottom. Cool on a wire rack.
